Education Stalwarts 2022 | Mr. Yasasvi Malka, COO of DPS and Pallavi Group of Institutions | Leaders in Education

It has indeed been challenging to run institutions consisting of over 30,000 students and over 2,200 faculty members. Without a shared vision, the essence of the institute is lost. I firmly believe that self-confidence and having a shared vision with all stakeholders is absolutely necessary for the progress of an organization. I believe that the future of our country depends on the next generation and by having a collective approach towards their education, will ensure in successful outcome.

I believe decision making is one of the most essential qualities while leading a team. Therefore, involving every stakeholder in making even the smallest of decisions will prove to bring in belongingness and a sense of importance. Additionally, it also gives them the space and freedom to express their views freely, thereby boosting their self- confidence.

Throughout my years in school and college, I have had the opportunity to lead various teams and groups – the cricket team in my school, being the president of the Sports Club in my college, and now I am the Chief Operating Officer. I believe that it is only with an intuitive vision that one can achieve large outcomes. People might think it’s slightly outlandish when you aim for something far-fetched. To set an example for others and be their role model, I believe that respecting every one’s opinion and appreciating them is absolutely essential. This makes everyone feel respected and involved. In the long run, it also leads to better results.

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic was not only unprecedented and unexpected but also brought everything to a standstill. In that way, our Chairman, M. Komaraiah, has been far-sighted in setting up five recording studios for online classes as early as in 2019 during the TSRTC strike. The concept of online classes thus, was not something new for the staff and teachers of DPS Nacharam. Despite various hurdles faced by both staff and teachers, and the increasing pressure from parents, the institute never hesitated to face any challenges. All events, from Investiture Ceremony to Joy of Giving – the annual event to celebrate the spirit of helping the needy, were conducted on the virtual platform. The collective effort of students, staff and management helped tackle the tough times successfully.

Teachers are undoubtedly the most important stakeholders in the school. Their well-being is essential for the growth and development of both students as well as the institution. But due to the pandemic, the new problems that have emerged due to online classes have taken a toll on their emotional and mental well-being. Teachers were also burdened with various personal issues. Thus, focussing on improving their professional growth through workshops and seminars is equally necessary. Further, upskilling teachers via training programmes and workshops will improve the quality of education provided to the children. Lastly, I firmly believe that an institution should be the backbone to its teachers in hard times and always be available to teachers and staff via a call.

I am an alumnus of DPS Nacharam and also one of the youngest employees here. I believe that the students are an essential part of my team and I am always open to suggestions, feedbacks and interactions with them. This helps the students as well as the staff to connect better and build get more info their trust and rapport with me.

I would like to emphasize the effective and efficient conduct of online classes. With over 3,000 new admissions successfully completed, the transition from physical mode to online mode of classes within a span of less than two weeks was seamless which as far as I am concerned, is a milestone.

The best instance I can think of is the MSD Cricket Academy which was recently launched. Had I been asked about this five years ago, I would have been laughed at for dreaming the impossible. But today, ours is the first school to have collaborated with the MSDCA in the south zone along with providing residential training. My ardent passion for cricket pushed me to make persistent efforts to achieve the same.

Also noteworthy, is the new addition of the senior wing of the National Cadet Corps making it a total of 8 units in Secunderabad, first among the 4(T) BN, NCC.

In the 21st century, especially after the pandemic, education is available at every doorstep, from any part of the world. Education will not be successful if it is only considered from an economic standpoint; it must also be considered from an emotional standpoint. There are many hardships and challenges faced by educational institutes such as parents being unable to pay the fees on time, students being unable to attend the classes and so forth. If such factors are taken into consideration and looked into, then an institute will grow much larger in all aspects. It may get overwhelming at times, but the joy of seeing students achieve milestones makes it all worthwhile.

With close to 30,000 students now, it is critical to diversify into industries such as green energy, real estate and health care to name a few. The goal is to improve the quality of life of as many people as possible by providing a green and clean environment as well as affordable health care.
